In my role overseeing Public Works construction projects for the City of Grapevine, I managed the construction, budgeting, scheduling, and contracts for roadways, utilities, water towers, hike and bike trails, and water and sewer treatment plants. Additionally, as the Project Manager for Grapevine's largest building project, the $100 million Public Safety building, I successfully completed it on time and under budget, establishing it as a landmark in the city.
With 41 years of experience in municipal government, I bring valuable insights and guidance to citizens, council members, and city staff. My connections with Oncor, Atmos Energy, and TxDOT have facilitated infrastructure development and traffic signal maintenance, benefiting our community. My background has led to significant improvements in contracts, projects, and maintenance standards for our city.
I plan to advocate for interlocal agreements with adjacent cities for services like paving, concrete repairs, and landscaping, including maintenance of parks, city facilities, and trails. This expansion of interlocal agreements aims to strengthen our partnerships with Tarrant County, TxDOT, Trinity Metro, and the cities of North Richland Hills, Haltom City, Watauga, Hurst, and Fort Worth, enhancing our community's infrastructure and services.
Our city should focus on two main areas: firstly, transforming Baker Boulevard into a destination with diverse dining and retail options, preventing the need for residents to shop elsewhere. Collaborating with a retail development specialist can expedite the introduction of new businesses, especially with 250 new residents from townhome projects boosting demand.
Secondly, we need to develop the area south of SH 121 along Handley-Ederville Road. Considering the rail station is no longer in use, partnering with Trinity Metro and property owners to promote development along this 2200-foot corridor is crucial for progress.
The development strategy for our community should be to lean into the needs of the citizens of Richland Hills. New development and redevelopment should be designed to fit our diverse community. We are not other cities, we are Richland Hills, where every citizen deserves to be heard.
